2004 – Metallica play a rare gig without drummer Lars Ulrich, who is sidelined with an undisclosed illness. Slipknot’s Joey Jordison and Slayer’s Dave Lombardo fill in for Ulrich, along with a Metallica drum tech, at the Download Festival in England’s Donington Park.

2004 – Slipknot: A 21-year-old Central Michigan University student suffers a fatal heart attack during a Detroit concert by Iowan gore rockers Slipknot. The student’s mother says concert conditions were not to blame for his death.

2003 – Slipknot bassist Paul Gray is arrested on drug charges after a car accident in Des Moines, Iowa. Gray reportedly ran a red light and collided with another car proceeding through an intersection. The musician’s behavior was erratic, and when police arrived on the scene, they found small amounts of marijuana, a substance that tested positive for cocaine, and two syringes in his Porsche.

2001 – appearing at the Ozzfest at PNC Bank Arts Centre, New Jersey, Black Sabbath, Linkin Park, Slipknot and Marilyn Manson.

2000 – Several fans of Slipknot are arrested in Oklahoma City, Okla. after a promoter oversells one of their concerts.
