2010 – Slash fans are facing a delay before the rocker’s new video with Fergie is released – because the raunchy clip needs to be censored.
The guitarist teamed up with the Black Eyed Peas frontwoman to record new track Beautiful Dangerous, but Slash admits the kinky promo they shot will have to be edited before it hits screens.
He explains, “It’s very controversial. I thought it was OK but apparently there’s a lot of suggestiveness and we’re having a rethink. There was a lot of t**s and a**.”
In the video, the singer plays a stalker who lures the former Guns N’ Roses star to her apartment, where she ties him to a bed and licks him – before stabbing him.

2010 – First Post-Flood Gibson USA Guitar Presented to Slash
On the heels of a worldwide jaunt across the globe celebrating his first solo album release, legendary guitarist Slash was presented with a very special “first guitar” from the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and leader in music technology, Gibson USA. The story of the American icon’s recovery and resurgence from the May 2010 floods in Nashville was presented with strong testament in West Hollywood, California at the Key Club on Monday, August 20, 2010, where Slash was presented with the very first guitar to roll off the production line since the devastating floods hit Music City. The guitar, a Gibson Les Paul Studio, came off the production line in July, 90 days after the flood, and was kept on display at the plant for all employees to view prior to it being given to signature artist Slash.
Gibson Guitar was also an official sponsor of the Sunset Music Festival supporting the rock legend Slash on Thursday, August 26, 2010 during an official citywide proclamation in West Hollywood that declared it officially “Slash Day.” Slash was honored at a special tribute at the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard for his extraordinary contribution to the rock-and-roll legacy which is the Sunset Strip. Gibson GuitarTown has been installed along the Sunset Strip with a prominent centerpiece of the exhibit being a ten-foot tall Gibson guitar sculpture uniquely themed “Slash.”

Organizers also announced COMMON, SEMI PRECIOUS WEAPONS, NEON TREES, BIG B, and STEEL PANTHER have been added to the street festival lineup that is being headlined by the previously announced SMASHING PUMPKINS.

2010 – SLASH Says ‘Chinese Democracy’ Was ‘The Perfect AXL Record’ – Apr. 4, 2010
Larry Getlen of the New York Post recently conducted an interview with legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N’ ROSES). An excerpt from the chat follows below.
New York Post: When Axl [Rose] finally released “Chinese Democracy” in 2008, What did you think?
Slash: It was the perfect Axl record — exactly what I would have expected from the final years of us working together, and seeing where he was headed musically. It’s very heavy; sort of a dark, depressing record. He’s fucking phenomenal.
New York Post: But the two of you haven’t spoken in years. Would you be open to speaking again?
Slash: I’m more standoffish because I know how vehemently he hates me. So that sort of makes me doubt it. But if we ran into each other and all that animosity were to pass for a second, then I’m sure we could have an interesting conversation.
New York Post: Axl Rose and Scott Weiland are great vocalists, but not so stable. Is that why you worked with so many guests on your new record?
Slash: Now you’re getting into the deeper psychological aspect of it, which I hadn’t really taken into consideration. Maybe a couple of hours on the couch might pull that one out! I think the whole thing was just inspired by great singers that I wanted to work with. I didn’t think about other aspects of it. But the one cool thing that did come out of this was that it gave me a whole new respect for singers, and changed my attitude toward them given the last couple of guys that I’ve worked with. These people were all amazingly gracious and professional. I’ve done so much session work where I write or play with somebody, and it’s an empty feeling when you’re done because they take off with the material — it’s like being a surrogate. So this time, I had all these people play on my record.
2009 – Slash Addresses Velvet Revolver Singer Rumors
SleazeRoxx reports: Velvet Revolver guitarist and former Guns N’ Roses member Slash has posted the following update regarding his upcoming solo album and how things are going with the Velvet Revolver vocalist search:
“Hey gang, what’s happening? Things are going fantastic in the studio, Josh Freese and Chris Chaney are one hell of a rhythm machine and the guitar sound is FAT! Fucking awesome tone! All is going perfect so far. We start recording vocals today and I’m really excited about working with this particular individual, its going to be quite an event.
In reading your mail I find that I’ve been receiving a lot of questions about Velvet Revolver. Mostly about if we have found a new singer and if we’re going to tour again. In response to the former, no we haven’t found a singer yet. There was a lot of talk about our announcing a new singer in March but it obviously didn’t happen. We had somebody that we thought was a really good candidate, but it just wasn’t meant to be. So, we’re still looking. In response to the latter question, of course Velvet Revolver is going to tour again, we just have to find the right person to front the band. We have a bunch of new material and we’re all anxious to get going, but the key ingredient for a rock & roll band such as VR is an amazing frontman, and we haven’t found the right man for the job, yet.
