2003 – The Distillers, AFI, Thrice and Offspring play the first night of Los Angeles radio station KROQ’s annual Almost Acoustic Christmas extravaganza at the city’s Universal Ampitheatre.
2003 – Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose sends the Offspring a cease and desist letter after they announce plans to call their new album Chinese Democrazy (You Snooze You Lose). Chinese Democracy is the name given to the long-awaited new GNR album.
2002 - The Strokes, Foo Fighters, Prodigy, Offspring, Muse, Sum 41, Janes Addiction, The Dandy Warhols, Jimmy Eat World, Incubus, Pulp, The White Stripes, Feeder and Cornershop all appeared at the UK Carling Leeds-Reading Weekend Festival in England.
2000 – As promised, the Offspring give away $1 million of its own money to a lucky fan. Two finalists in the band’s online giveaway, where fans who downloaded the song Original Prankster were automatically entered, appear on MTV’s “Total Request Live” to compete in a trivia contest to determine who will take the prize. 14-year-old Ashley Hitchcock wins, correctly identifying Noodles as the oldest member of the band.
2000 – Napster.com asks the Offspring to stop selling merchandise with its logo on it. The Web site also announces the reinstatement of 30,000 Metallica fans barred from using its MP3-sharing software.
2000 – The Offspring’s Dexter Holland testifies in court that the Dead Kennedys’ credibility would suffer if their music is used in a TV commercial. Jello Biafra and the other Dead Kennedys are involved in a legal tussle over the rights to the San Francisco punk group’s music.
