2006 – Johnny Jenkins, a guitarist who worked with Otis Redding in the early 1960s and influenced Jimi Hendrix through his acrobatic playing style, dies at a hospital in Macon, Ga. He is 67.
2006 – Sum-41’s guitarist Dave “Brownsound” Baksh announces he is leaving the band to pursue a metal direction with his band Brown Brigade. “This is the worst day of my life,” complains one fan. Wait until they have to start shaving.
2006 – Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards suffers a brain hemorrhage after falling out of a palm tree on the island of Fiji. The Richards family were on vacation. Doctors say the rock warhorse will need an operation to drain his skull.
2006 – Pete Wells, slide guitarist and one of the founders of Australian power blues band Rose Tattoo, dies in a Sydney hospital. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002 and had spent the previous five weeks in the hospital. He is 59.
2006 – Guitarist Charlotte Hatherley leaves Northern Irish punk-poppers Ash after ten (!) years with the band. The group describe the split as “completely amicable.”

2005 – Poison guitarist C.C. DeVille is sentenced to 80 days behind bars after he pleaded no contest to DUI and causing injury. DeVille was arrested after running into a parked car in August.
