1996 – Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher walks out on the band in the middle of their American tour. He’s reported to have fought with his brother, singer Liam Gallagher, and is tired of “touring sh*tholes.”
1996 – MTV premieres “MTV Unplugged” with Oasis. The band’s lead vocalists, Liam Gallagher, does not perform. The show was taped in London in August.
1997 – Oasis’ Liam Gallagher marries actress Patsy Kensit in London.
1998 – Oasis’ Liam Gallagher is charged in an Australian court after he allegedly headbutted a fan, breaking the fan’s nose. Gallagher, the British group’s lead singer, is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm by the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court and freed on $(AUS)10,000 bail.
1999 – Bassist Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan leaves Oasis. Guitarist Noel Gallagher confirms the band will tour in 2000, saying, “We’ve been left holding a sh*t sandwich here, but we’ve just got to get on with it.”
