2001 – Napster executives are told by a federal judge that as soon as the recording industry provides them with a list of copyrighted songs to be removed from their file-swapping Web site, they will have 72 hours to comply.

Furthermore, Napster is sued by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences for Copyright Infringement.
