1968 – The Beatles’ self-titled double album, referred to as The White Album because of its cover, tops the British albums chart. It was originally release in the UK with a picture of John and Yoko nude on the cover. The Good ole’ US of A just couldn’t tolerate that type of physical freedom.

Hence, Spinal Tap’s scene about their album cover with ‘Smell the glove’… ya know…. it’s such a fine line!
