1941 – Eric Burdon of The Animals is born in Tyneside, England on This Day in Rock. The group’s first single to make Chart Toppers’s Hot 100 is “The House of the Rising Sun,” which stays at No. 1 for three weeks in 1964.

The Animals were reformed in 1962, Newcastle, with Burdon as lead singer. One of the leading bands of the British Invasion. The Animals hits were pretty endless such as,”The House of the Rising Sun”, “Sky Pilot”, “Monterey”, “I’m Crying”, “Boom Boom”, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”, “Bring It On Home to Me”, “Baby Let Me Take You Home”, “It’s My Life”, “We Gotta Get out of This Place”, “Don’t Bring Me Down”, and “See See Rider”.
