2011 – The Monkees announce the bands 45th anniversary tour. Peter Tork, Davey Jones and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees announce the bands 45th anniversary tour at The Groucho Club on February 21, 2011 in London, England.
Ten years earlier, there were problems in the reunion tour where Tork accused Davey and Mickey of drinking too much. Tork changed his story saying, “We were getting along pretty well until I had a meltdown,” he says. “I ticked the other guys off good and proper and it was a serious mistake on my part. I was not in charge of myself to the best of my ability – the way I hope I have become since. I really just behaved inappropriately, honestly. I apologized to them.”
“We’re going to do all the Monkee hits,” Tork says. “Starting with the five major ones: The two believers ['Daydream Believer' and 'I'm A Believer'], ‘Last Train To Clarksville,’ ‘Pleasant Valley Sunday’ and ‘(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone.’ Then we’ll do the top twenties and the top hundreds and then the obscure ones.” Of the many deep cuts to draw from, Tork hopes to revive the a cappella song “Riu Chiu,” and “As We Go Along” and “Porpoise Song” from the Head soundtrack.

STAMFORD, Conn. – The white two-piece suit John Lennon wore on the cover of the Beatles’ “Abbey Road” album has been sold at auction in Connecticut for $46,000.
The suit and other Beatles memorabilia were sold Saturday at the Braswell Galleries’ annual New Year’s Day auction to an online bidder who wished to remain anonymous.

The suit was custom made for Lennon by French designer Ted Lapidus.

2010 – VINCE NEIL Performs At Las Vegas’ Feelgoods Bar; Video Available - Feb. 26, 2010
Video footage of MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil and his solo band performing the CRÜE classic “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)” at the Las Vegas location of Vince‘s bar and grill, Feelgoods, on February 6, 2010 can be viewed below.
“Tattoos And Tequila”, the title track of Vince Neil‘s forthcoming solo album, and the accompanying video are available for free download at www.vinceneil.net.
“Tattoos And Tequila” is expected to be released in early May. The CD was recorded with bassist Dana Strum and Jeff Blando (both of SLAUGHTER) and drummer Zoltan Chaney. At least two cover tracks were reportedly laid down during the sessions — CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL‘s “Who’ll Stop The Rain?” and SEX PISTOLS‘ “No Feelings”.
In a recent interview with The News Tribune, Vince stated about the upcoming CD’s title, “It’s rock ‘n’ roll. That’s it. It has nothing to do with MÖTLEY CRÜE. Tattoos and tequila is basically my life.”
Vince told Robin Leach of the Las Vegas Sun last week that his voice is in great shape as he approaches his 50th birthday, and although the CRÜE is not touring again until early summer, he will be on the road with his solo band until then.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Neil is also writing a book akin to MÖTLEY‘s autobiography, “The Dirt”, with Esquire writer Mike Sager.
2010 – U.K. Declares Abbey Road A Historic Site
February 23, 2010
2010 – With all the talk about EMI possibly selling Abbey Road Studios, the U.K. government has stepped in and declared it a historic site so that no radical changes can be made. Culture Minister Margaret Hodge declared the iconic venue a “Grade II” listed building, which means that although changes to its interior are permitted, any proposed alterations must respect the character and preservation of the site. In a statement, Hodge said the listing had been granted “overwhelmingly on the historic merit of the studios” and because “it has huge cultural importance and a very special place in the hearts of recording artists and music lovers alike.”
“The Abbey Road Studios have been listed in acknowledgement of their outstanding cultural interest and to ensure that recording artists for generations to come can continue to make and record music in the same rooms as musical icons of years gone by,” said Hodge’s statement. “Music – of whichever genre – is the thread that follows us through all our lives and Abbey Road Studios have produced some of the very best music in the world. It’s a testament to both the importance of music in people’s lives as well as the passion this kind of issue stirs up, that so much interest has been generated by the perceived threat to the future of Abbey Road.”
Among those calling for the studios to be saved were Sir Paul McCartney and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who signaled that he was a potential buyer. However, EMI said over the weekend that it did not want to sell Abbey Road, although it was talking to other parties about revitalizing the site. EMI said it had been in discussions since November 2009 to find ways to regenerate the studios.
“EMI confirms that it is holding preliminary discussions for the revitalization of Abbey Road with interested and appropriate third parties,” the company said in the statement. “We believe that Abbey Road should remain in EMI’s ownership.”

2009 – Michael Jackson delayed the opening four nights of his This Is It UK tour at London’s O2 arena. Concert promoters AEG Live said the delay was necessary because the singer needed more time for dress rehearsals. The first show, on 8 July, was pushed back by five nights. Three other July dates would now not take place until March 2010.
