Left standing in tonight’s competition is:
Eddie U’s take.
Tonight’s show had some very good performances. Most of the singers did themselves proud. The votes are going to be close, and there could be some surprises tomorrow night when we find out who’s going home. Here are the contestants that I feel should go on to the finals:
In danger of going home:
In order of tonight’s performances:
Song: How you like me now – by The Heavy
Score – 9
Christina: Great song choice. That was slickly done.
CeeLo: Your performance pleases me. That was a really a pleasant surprise. I became a fan of yours tonight.
Adam: What a great collaboration between the two of us has been. This was the perfect thing at the perfect moment dude. You killed it.
Blake: I don’t know that song, and I’m glad I don’t – because that would be the version that I would like. It kinda had a Robert Palmer thing going on. That was bad ass.
(Great way to open the show. It was strong, exciting and entertaining. Tony has a great chance of going through to the finals, and just may win this competition.)
Song: Without you – by David Guetta
Score – 5
Christina: I thought it was very bold of you to come out here and do your own rendition of the song. I’m proud of you – to see you so emotionally involved in the song.
CeeLo: I believe that this show does need moments like that, of where we make more than music.
Adam: Blake: You look beautiful. I would give anything to have a tenth of the talent you have. Your singing is unbelievable. But more than anything, I would give anything to have the strength that you have. I love you for that Erin.
(Blake was very gracious to Erin, in spite of her horrible pitch problems on this song. They have a connection because they both just lost their Fathers in the last few weeks. I don’t think Erin will make it through to next week. She really didn’t have a chance at the winners spot in my opinion. .)
Song: Ave Maria
Score – 9 1/2
Christina: I just felt the heavens open up just now. I felt so moved and humbled by your performance
CeeLo: Your Voice is so powerful and so pure, and it’s perfect. You really are the epitome of this show. Stellar performance tonight.
Adam: It’s such a wonderful thing that we can have a show where there are so many different types of performances, and you kinda lend to the show’s credibility. Incredible job.
(Christina was very brave in letting Chris sing opera on a POP TV show. But I think it was a great idea to show off Chris’ vocal expertise. Chris is truly a great singer, and worthy of the title of The Voice. He should go through to the finals.)
Song: Open Arms – by Journey
Score – 8
Christina: You put the Jermaine on that song – and you killed it.
CeeLo: You did a wonderful job, and I am consistently impressed with you. Great job bro.
Adam: I would like to congratulate you… because you are no longer a background singer my friend.
Blake: Adam said a few weeks ago… “That’s the guy you got to beat”. You should have been saying that about Jermaine. (A reference about another singer that is no longer on the show – Jesse Campbell). Jermaine is peaking at the right time.
(This was Jermaine’s best performance of the show. He surprised me tonight. Jermaine will definitely be in the finals round.)
Song: If you don’t know me by now – by Simply Red
Score –8 1/2
Christina: I got motivated to start singing.
CeeLo: I wanted to do something intimate. I think the story of your life would be a best seller (Jamar has HIV) It’s because it’s a success story.
Adam: I’m just purely a fan of what you do.
Blake: That’s by far the most laid back performance that I’ve seen from you so far.
(Jamar had a good night. But will it will be enough to beat out Juliet for the finals spot on Ceelo’s team. This is going to be a close one. )
Song: Killing Me Softly – by Lauren Hill / Roberta Flack
Score – 8 1/2
Christina: Oh Katrina… I have to say that, honestly, I have truly fallen in love with you over the course of this competition. I wish I was your coach for this song. Adam – take a look at Katrina Parker – cause she’s a star.
CeeLo: You reinvented this song.
Adam: At the end of the day, you didn’t sound like Lauren Hill, you sounded like Katrina Parker. I’m beyond happy. I love you man.
Blake: Your voice has a quality to it that just sounds seasoned, and it comes from singing thousands of show like we all do. But you already have that quality to your voice. Besides just being a good singer… it’s just an awesome tone. Damn it.
(I really like Katrina, and I agree… she is a star in the making. She did a good job on the song – there were a few problems with her pitch – but was her performance good enough to beat Tony for the spot in the finals? Probably not… thanks to the choice of song by Adam.)
Song: Skinny Love – by Bonnie
Score – 7
Christina: I’m a big Lindsey fan. I love you.
CeeLo: I think your voice has a very shy and innocent quality. I thought you did a great job.
Adam: I have to celebrate the show tonight. Any one of you guys, given the right thing, can reign victorious.
Blake: That was really good. Strategy wise, I have to hand it to Christian for bringing it back to what the artist started with. It reminded me why I loved you to begin with. That was refreshing… that was really cool.
(There is something unique about Lindsey, and she could sell a lot of records with the right songs and a strong producer. But I think it is the end of the road for her tomorrow night.)
Song: It’s a Man’s World
Score – 10
Christina: You got me feeling all feisty. Love me… hate me… I sing from my heart. That is where I sing from, and that is where you sing from too.
Ceelo: You killed it baby… you murdered that record.
Adam: Man…That was something special. I think all of us were captured in that moment. You are the one to beat tonight.
(Wow… I thought Jamar had a good shot at going into the next round. But the show had other things in mind by featuring Juliet to close the show. This was the best song of hers in the entire competition. Great song choice Ceelo!!! In my opinion, Juliet had the only 10 of the night. That should get her through to the finals. I have often thought that some of the young talent could portray Janis Joplin in a feature film about her career and life story. Juliet would definitely pull of the vocal chops, and she could do it if she has any acting skills. She is a natural talent… and just might have that in her as well. Great job Juliet!)
