MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET
THE NEW MUSICAL
At Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, a new musical, opens on Broadway this Sunday, April 11th at the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street).
The cast includes Eddie Clendening (Elvis Presley), Lance Guest (Johnny Cash), Levi Kreis (Jerry Lee Lewis), Robert Britton Lyons (Carl Perkins), Hunter Foster (Sam Phillips) and Elizabeth Stanley (Dyanne).
On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together. The place was Sun Records’ storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock and Roll,” who discovered them all. The four young musicians united for the only time in their careers for an impromptu recording that has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.
Inspired by the actual event, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET features a treasure trove of the greatest rock and roll, gospel, R&B and country hits from these musicians, including such iconic songs as “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Riders in the Sky,” “I Walk the Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.” MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET captures the infectious spirit, freewheeling excitement and thrilling sounds of a singular moment when four of the music industry’s most extraordinary talents, all in their creative prime, came together for one of the most memorable nights in music history.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is directed by Eric Schaeffer, features a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, and was originally directed and conceived by Mutrux. The design team for Broadway includes: Derek McLane (scenic design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), Jane Greenwood (costume design), Kai Harada (sound design) and Chuck Mead (musical arrangements and supervision).
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is produced by Relevant Theatricals, John Cossette Productions, American Pop Anthology, Broadway Across America, and James L. Nederlander.

As the June 15 release date approaches for OZZY OSBOURNE’s SCREAM (Epic Records)–his first album in three years and 10th studio album overall–the album cover artwork (seen right) and full track listing have been revealed.
Song Titles:
“Let It Die”
”Let Me Hear You Scream”
”Soul Sucker”
”Life Won’t Wait”
”Diggin’ Me Down”
”Crucify”
”Fearless”
”Time”
”I Want It More”
”Latimer’s Mercy”
”I Love You All”
“Let Me Hear You Scream”–the album’s first single–is already Top Five (#5) on the Mainstream Rock Chart and Top Ten (#9) on the Active Rock chart in only its second week on the charts. The fist-pumping anthemic song had its world premiere, during a prison riot scene, on “CSI: NY” Wednesday, April 14. Next month, OZZY will shoot a video for “Let Me Hear You Scream” with famed director Jonas Akerlund.
SCREAM was produced by OZZY and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for OZZY’s 2007 worldwide million-seller Black Rain, the album. The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded most of the album at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker, and co-wrote all the songs, primarily with Churko. Notably, the album marks the first appearance of OZZY’s new guitar player, Gus G. OZZY’s band also features bassist Blasko, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.
OZZY will also embark on an 18-month world tour (dates TBA) in support of SCREAM, with news about OZZFEST to emerge THIS Friday night, April 30.
2010 – Rockers The Who fear they’ve taken their final bow – because they’re struggling to stage shows with Pete Townshend’s hearing problems. The 64 year old has suffered from partial deafness and tinnitus for many years, and admits the condition is now so bad he is having to cut back the amount of time he spends on stage and in the recording studio.
He is testing new in-ear monitors, which help ease his tinnitus – but frontman Roger Daltrey fears their performance in London last month could be their last, if Townshend’s health problems persist. Daltrey tells Uncut magazine, “If carrying on is going to mean Pete going deaf, let’s stop now. Entering old age is a silent world – nothing is worth that.”
“That (last month’s concert) might have been the last gig. I honestly don’t know. We’re trying to deal with issues that we have never dealt with before. Our bodies are beginning to give up on us. I’ve had voice problems in the past year that I’ve managed to sort out and I’m really enjoying singing again but you have to be realistic – I am 66 years old.”
2010 – Billy Corgan has launched a Twitter tirade against Courtney Love, who’s now known as Courtney Michelle. She in turn, has for once been very restrained in response.Corgan began it all by announcing: “My face is my face, my heart is my heart, my money is my money. Oh, and my songs are MY songs (alluding to the fact that he allegedly wrote songs for the just-released Hole album Nobody’s Daughter). If you can’t write your own songs maybe you should just be happy that you fooled someone into doing your work for you. Maybe you should go (somewhere) nice [and] live off your husband’s money, (you) know, the money he made for writing all those great songs”.
Not satisfied, he carried on by taking a swipe at the fact that Courtney recently lost custody of her daughter, Frances Bean: “The world is aware of your lack of responsibility, as seen in the (government) taking away your parental rights. Only you could abandon such a beautiful, incredible child who is smarter than (you), cooler than (you), and better than (you). Oops, did I say too much?”
So far, all Courtney has said is: “All I am is nice about you so if you wanna be mean, be mean”.
2010 – A movie based on the life of Ozzy Osbourne is to go into production imminently.Blabbermouth have reported that Sharon Osbourne said of these plans: “There’s about to be a big announcement. It’s been picked up and it’s going into production. We’re going to make a press announcement hopefully within the next two weeks. There’s no cast yet, but we have a producer and we have lots of money and we’re all starting.”

AC/DC have returned to the top of the U.K. album chart with a little help from Iron Man. The group’s “Iron Man 2″ soundtrack has beaten Paul Weller to the top spot and the rockers are well on course to end Lady GaGa’s run at the top of the European album charts.
“Iron Man 2 – Official Soundtrack” is only AC/DC’s third chart topper in the U.K. Weller’s “Wake Up the Nation” debuted at two on the new countdown, with Meat Loaf’s new album “Hang Cool Teddy Bear” entering the chart at four.
Meanwhile, Diana Vickers’ “Once” tops the new singles chart in the U.K., ahead of “OMG” by Usher.
The sale of “Iron Man 2″ soundtrack could boost the sale of the movie’s tickets as well. Starring Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke as the hero and the villain respectively, the film is heading to theaters starting May 7.

The Associated Press confirmed with Michaels’ publicist that the star did suffer a brain hemorrhage and is in critical condition. Joann Mignano told AP that tests are being conducted and that no further information was available.
Bret Michaels was rushed to hospital after suffering from an excruciating headache which doctors said was due to bleeding at the base of his brain stem, according to Jam!. Aside from fronting Poison, Michaels is also known as a reality TV star from his Vh1 “Rock of Love” and he is a contestant in the current season of “The Celebrity Apprentice”.

by Jessica Letkemann, N.Y. | April 20, 2010 12:19 EDT
Yes, Pearl Jam is also with Coco. Conan O’Brien upped the musical ante of his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television” tour last night (April 19) in Seattle, when a pair of Pearl Jammers showed up unexpectedly to rock the late-night host’s post birthday gig.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder played a three-song mini-set. Accompanying himself on mandolin, Vedder began with “Rise,” from his 2007 solo soundtrack to the film “Into The Wild.” Next, he picked up a Telecaster-styled ukulele for a version of John Lennon’s “Oh Yoko,” on which he led a sing-along of “Oh Conan” in honor of the comedian’s 47th birthday the day before. “There’s something that happens when you play very small instruments,” quipped the 5’8″ Vedder. “It somehow creates the illusion that you’re tall; an illusion that’s completely shattered as soon as Conan O’Brien stands next to you.”

For his finale, Vedder brought out Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready for a cover of the Who’s “Baba O’Riley” that was backed amusingly by O’Brien’s horn section.
